1 Pixel Out player removed from PowerPress
January 23rd, 2013 — angeloDue to concerns of possible security exploits, the 1 Pixel Out Audio Player has been removed from PowerPress as of version 4.0.6. PowerPress users are strongly encouraged to update their copy of PowerPress immediately.
If you update your copy of PowerPress via the plugin update interface built into your WordPress wp-admin, no further action is required.
If you update your copy of PowerPress via FTP, it is imperative that you delete the following file in the wp-content/plugins/powerpress folder: audio-player.swf
The possible issue is with the 1 Pixel Out flash based audio player. The official 1 Pixel Out Audio Player was removed temporary from WordPress.org repository (link: http://wordpr
ess.org/extend/plugins/audio-player/
If your site is currently configured to use the 1 Pixel Out audio player (pictured below), the Flow Player Classic player will be substituted in its place once your copy of PowerPress is updated.

UPDATE: The creator of the 1 Pixel Out player is working on a fix. Once updated, we will be re-including the popular player in PowerPress.
These open source players included in PowerPress are created by individuals who have a passion for our podcasting and music community. To give back, please make a donation to the 1 Pixel Out Audio Player to show your support for this very popular Audio Player.

Thanks for letting us know. I used this player for a couple of sites I’ve built. Luckily nothing bad has happened to them. I hope everything gets worked out.
How will we be notified once the new version of the audio-player.swf is available? Would you recommend anyone using the standalone version to use something else? Is there any info on what the specific vulnerability is?
Thanks!
Jake
Any plans to update again now that Audio Player has released a security update?
Just wondering how long are we looking at before we get our player back?
The next update will include the updated 1 pixel out player. The next version will be released in the coming week.
awesome thanks angelo!

Yes, thank you! 1 Pixel is cool, and PowerPress is awesome.
As of today, due to the 1 Pixel Out Audio Player change, I can no longer post new podcast episodes (audio links using my power press).
If I post the media file link (hosted by libsyn) in my podcast post page (wordpress), I get the following:
“The document or the file you requested can not be found on our server. It’ s possible that you typed the URL incorrectly or the document/file no longer exists. Thank you!”
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Each day I’m not updating my podcast content, I’m losing subscibers.
The problem your describing is not linked to the player displayed in your theme’s pages.

Hi , is this possible to have a translation of the term “Track” contain in the player?, it’s a swf file and I can’t change it…
You need to ask the developer of the flash player, that is not something we can change in PowerPress.
