It’s great to know that we’re achieving actual results for our advertisers here at Blubrry. After all, when advertisers are happy they keep coming back. And that means we can put money in the pockets of podcasters.
Recently Shel and Neville of the For Immediate Release podcast put out a call for testimonials on listener use of GoToMeeting. Well on the latest episode of FIR (#213) a happy listener responded.
You can hear the very positive testimonial around the 12:30 mark in the audio. The reaction included a very enthusiastic, “Wow, this was fabulous.” Right on.
We’re excited to know that we’re bringing value to our sponsors while providing podcasters income from services that their audiences find to be useful. Everybody wins folks. That’s the sweetness of Blubrry.
One more note on FIR. They have two sponsors. They negotiated the deal with their second sponsor and they get 100% of that revenue. We allow that kind of thing here at Blubrry. Why shouldn’t podcasters be able to negotiate their own deals if something comes their way?
Things can get even sweeter for podcasters who find a sponsor for their podcast and then bring that advertiser to the larger group here at Blubrry. Podcasters that do so will receive a percentage of the total deal for sponsors they introduce to the community.
How can podcasters earn income with Blubrry? Let me count the ways.

Dave Winer points out that Chris Pirillo is willing to market Windows Vista for $1 Million.
Chris’ idea is a great one and certainly a good value for Microsoft’s advertising dollar. Chris’ assertion that, “a mindnumbingly lackluster launch - and the remainder of your media blitz needs to be coherent.” just might be true. And we want you to know that we can help.
For 100K we could give you a million impressions in podcast shows plus prominent links to Windows Vista in the Blubrry profile page for each podcast in the deal. Our podcasts would also place a Windows Vista image link on their primary podcast point of presence. This is huge, worldwide exposure to people who use the web and are passionate about their computers.
Chris points out some great new features in his post and we think that you need to drive this point home by going directly to users. The billboard on 42nd St. is great but most people don’t even look up at it. This is guaranteed exposure we’re offering you at a very fair price.
We can do a $1 million dollar deal as well. We have over 1000 podcasts between Blubrry and our sister site Podcaster News. For $1000 a podcast you could get Windows Vista exposure in 1000 podcasts. Wowza!
Apple has generated a ton of positive marketing just by making the investment in a podcast directory for the iTunes music store. You can now get a similar benefit by engaging podcasters in the biggest ad deal ever.
Podcasters and their audience really appreciate anyone who provides financial support for their cause. So both sides win big here. The podcasters can earn money and you can get the message on Windows Vista right to audiences who frequently use computers and the web.
Any representative of Microsoft who wants to talk can email marketing[at]rawvoice[dot]com. We’ll work day and night to get the deal done and start getting the word out ASAP.

Now that the weather in the Northeast has turned into true winter my thoughts wander to spring. And how sweet spring can be if you’re a Blubrry podcaster.
Because you may have the opportunity to take part in a pair of advertising deals at one time. I recently announced the very broad and generous GoDaddy deal that is available to all Blubrry podcasters who have filled out their advertising survey and returned the offer sheet.
Come April 1st their will be another opportunity for podcasters in the following categories to get in on an advertising deal: Business, Education, Environment, General, News, Nostalgia, Travel, Politics, Science, Technology, Weather
Note: Shows can apply for waivers if not in the current categories on a case by case basis.
This will be a first time campaign and the deal is BIG. In fact, the deal is so big that we will be able to engage every show in one of the above categories provided that those shows fill out their surveys and agree to the deal. Also, this is a CPM deal so payments to podcasters will be based on the amount of visibility your shows provide for the advertiser.
Yes, you can run the GoDaddy and this other campaign together to get the max benefit out of your association with Blubrry. A green spring indeed :).

We’re on the verge of announcing our latest ad deal to members of the Blubrry podcast community. This one is going to be sweet. Probably the sweetest one podcasters have ever had a chance to get in on.
In exchange for promoting GoDaddy web hosting you will get paid …a nice amount… for each new customer that you convert to GoDaddy hosting services. Plus you’ll get a code that will allow your podcast audience to get a nice discount off all of GoDaddy’s products and services. You’ll earn a smaller, but still nice amount for each new GoDaddy customer that uses the code. Your audience members will not be able to combine the promo codes.
This is a Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) ad deal. So you won’t need to submit stats to us for this particular promotion. The amount of money you earn will be solely based on the number of customers that you convert.
If you want to learn more about the general terms of Blubrry ad deals, please check out the Blubrry Ad Deal Basics in our new forum.
Current Blubrry podcasters will be forwarded a message very soon with all the details, including dollar amounts, on this promotion.
Happy Podcasting!

Earlier today Todd Cochrane announced a forthcoming Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) ad deal that will pay the podcaster a flat fee for every person they get to sign up for the service being advertised. We think that’s a pretty sweet deal.
In order to be eligible for the deal your podcast must be a part of the Blubrry community and you must have a complete advertising survey. We’ve had some questions about the lingo and procedures related to this deal so I figured I would get that info onto the blog for all to see.
The Lingo
Cost Per Acquisition (CPA) means that the podcaster gets paid based on the number of users they actually refer to buy the product or service. We track this by providing a referral code to the podcaster which they then promote to their audiences.
You may also hear of CPM or Cost Per Thousand deals. CPM deals pay based on how many downloads a podcast has during the period of the deal. Advertisers pay a flat rate per thousand downloads that is agree to when the deal is negotiated.
The Procedures
First and foremost your podcast needs to be a part of the community. If your podcast is not with us but you want to be considered then you can add your podcast (or podcasts) after you sign up for a basic user account.
All member podcasts need to have their advertising survey completed in order to be considered for inclusion in any advertising deal. The ad survey is our questionnaire that assists us with aggregating shows for inclusion in ad deals.
You can access the survey by taking the following steps:
1. Login to Blubrry.
2. Click “Your Settings” link in the upper right hand part of the page.
3. Click “Edit Advertising Survey” link on the right side of the page. (There will be a link per podcast)
4. Review the message from Todd if you haven’t done so already.
5. Click the “Click Here To Edit The Survey” link at the bottom of the page.
6. Fill out the form as completely as possible.
7. Save the form.
We’ll do the rest by aggregating report data and identifying shows that are eligible to participate in the ad deal.
We hope this clarifies some of the basic questions resulting from the recent announcement of the forthcoming deal. Thanks for being a part of the community and know that we’re working hard to bring tangible value to our member podcasters.

You don’t have to be a podcaster running an ad deal to make money from your participation in the community. You see, we have this referral program that pays you a finders fee of 10% if you introduce us to an advertiser and a deal actually occurs. All you have to do is pass along the info and we’ll do the rest.
So say you’re a podcaster and you’ve been crafty enough to bring in your own advertiser for your show. You can ask them a simple question. “Would you like to have more access to the wider podcasting community?” If they say yes then you should refer them to us. If we end up doing an ad deal worth $5000 then you make $500 just for making the introduction. Sweet!
You don’t have to be an podcaster to get in on this deal either. If you’re just a member of the community who enjoys the features and podcasts then you can get in on the action as well. If you’re the enterprising sort and know someone who might benefit from the power of podcasting then feel free to pass their info along. If an ad deal is struck then its 10% to you!
Finally, our advertisers and partners can make out on this as well. If you’ve done business with us and liked the results why not refer some of your partners along. We’ll make the same payouts mentioned about back to you.
Our philosophy here at Blubrry is very simple. We treat everyone like a partner. Those who contribute the most are rewarded in kind. And those who contribute to our financial health receive a nice piece of the Blubrry pie. So don’t wait another second. Send your leads and contacts over to marketing[at]rawvoice[dot]com today.

We received two request from podcasters that are contracted (aka “Owned”) by Podshow to have their listing removed from Blubrry.com. Podshow informed them that can no longer be listed on our site because we are now a competitor of their product offereing. This is a pretty amazing admission by Podshow podcasters.
We at Blubrry pride ourselves on not locking people into contracts or interfereing in a podcaster’s right to list his/her show any where he/she may see fit. Podshow’s recent adoption of placement limitations on their podcasters is clearly an attempt to control their podcaster’s exposure and earnings capability.
This response, however, is not surprising given the Podshow’s prior stance on advertising with outside networks. Past promotional opportunities made to Podshow podcasters listed on blubrry have been met with silence. This confused us, until we were told by several other vendors that podshow podcasters are not allowed to respond. They are instructed to forward any outside ad deals straight to the Podshow sales department. This all very sad. It seems that even when a podcaster is capable of earning revenue on their program, Podshow is limiting their ability to do so.
Now Podshow has gone one step further by not only limiting the revenue potential of a podcast, but also its ability to gain exposure. We hope that given such apparently severe restrictions these podcasters are actually making some money with Podshow and not just getting screwed out of the rights to manage their show.

I am very pleased to announce that we currently have over 100 podcasts that are part of the community here at Blubrry.com either currently running an ad deal for
WickedLasers.com or getting ready to start a 6 month campaign with
GotoMeeting. The RawVoice team was very quickly able to secure ad deals for a large number of the podcasters that are part of the Blubrry.com community.
We are currently in negotiations with other companies and hope to seal deals so that an additional 300 podcasters at Blubrry will be able to start earning revenue just by being a part of our social podcasting site. We have worked very hard to live by the motto that Podcasters do the Work, Podcasters get Paid.
We don’t promise people they will get rich but some will be able to make car payments and more. If you are a podcaster that is looking to part of a community that does not lock you in then you need to get your site added to the Blubrry Community.
